A troll

A troll was a giant creature and a member of the People. Trolls did not seem to possess much intelligence, but were large and violent, producing devastation wherever they went. They were allergic to both nettles and wasp juice.

The entire fairy community was abuzz at the loss of the Aculos when Foaly reported to LEPRecon Commander Root that there had been a deep-tunnel breakout. He wasn't sure what it was, but it was large. Commander Root ordered that he send someone up to investigate it, but all of the active-duty forces were already dispatched downtown in Haven City to search for the Aculos. She therefore sent out Holly Short, daughter of disgraced officer Beechwood Short, to investigate. Short arrived aboveground, where she discovered that the runner was a troll that was crashing a wedding party. The troll was tall, vicious and mean, wreaking havoc through the party and attacking everyone and everything in sight. Short saved a young girl from its clutches and then healed her injuries. She then went up against the troll, eventually wrapping it up with a string of lights and knocking it out. A team then arrived and placed a time freeze over the scene before mind wiping all of the humans, resetting everything and removing the troll from the grounds.

The troll was secretly kept by the LEPRecon forces. During the siege of Fowl Manor, Briar Cudgeon usurped command from Commander Root on authorization of the executors and secretly working under Opal Koboi, who desired the Aculos. He then revealed the troll, asking her she remembered it. He told her that it had been fed a potion of everything that trolls were allergic too: nettles and wasp juice, so it was twice as strong and ten times as mad. He, along with a dwarf team, then inserted the troll into Fowl Manor and a pitched battle began. Those inside finally managed to subdue the troll, however, the battle very nearly cost Domovoi Butler his life. He was only saved when those outside defied Cudgeon's orders to restore Holly Short's magic, which he had blocked.
Behind the scenes[]
In the Artemis Fowl film, the troll was portrayed by Adam Basil for the body of the troll and Taylor James for the face, both enhanced by visual effects. A deleted scene including with the film's release, "More Troll Fight," shows a little over a minute of additional footage of the troll fight at Fowl Manor, that did not make the final cut of the film. Some of these scenes feature incomplete CGI or other visual effects.
