Mayne is the nephew of Foaly and Caballine. Mayne is a centaur and Foaly's nephew. Foaly thinks Mayne is quite annoying.

In the seventh book, Foaly sends Mayne a text message where he asks him to hack into LEP files and find out who was in the prisoner transport that was destroyed by the probe, in exchange for an extra big ice cream.
Artemis Fowl and the Last Guardian[]
In The Last Guardian, Mayne is found to be obsessed with Unicorns. He speaks fluent "Unicorn," a language from a film he watched, which was written by an empath, which gives the language some credibility. He experienced the Great Techno-Crash and knew about the ARClights Foaly was developing, excited to see them officially launch for the first time.
